Overview

Working as a consultant for Burgess Design Group, Eric and team helped reimagine a multi-story commercial building in Seattle. By activating the large interior atrium with dynamic staircases, meeting pods, updated railings, and fresh finishes, the project breathed new life into the building. The detailing extends through the entry and other key areas, transforming the space into a modern, vibrant environment that fosters collaboration and movement.

The existing space was completely dead…picture fake plants in big pots and no people. Addressing the shear volume and multiple viewpoint of the space were a hug challenge.

The introduction of Custom Meeting Pods helped to breakup and activate the lower level.

We found part of the solution was to add different textures to the walls which not only helped breakup the expanse, but helped the acoustics.

The buildings Entry walls are raised aggregate concrete. Modern and amazing. By significantly increasing the light levels and adding directional elements, the Entry space felts new and inviting.

The introduction of a grand staircase was the heart of this transformation as it not only added a sculptural element to the space but a desperately needed means to move between the different floors of the Atrium. As with the meeting pods, it also activated the space physically and mentally.
