Overview

This serene retreat on Whidbey Island was designed to harmonize with its natural surroundings. Transparent from entry to view, the home features a green roof, low-maintenance materials, and custom bricks, all tailored to complement its artistic atmosphere. Flooded with natural light and nestled into a sloping site, the home evokes a treehouse feel with tree-filtered views of the Olympic Mountains. Using natural wood, steel, glass, and brick, Eric crafted flowing spaces that connect studios, display areas, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions, creating a tranquil, light-filled haven.

The glass Entry wall gives a glimps of the amazing views to come as you enter into the home.

This very special brick wall flows from the Entry exterior bisecting the house.

The Owners had an image of these unique bricks and loved them. It turned out they were only manufactured in Europe but with a little determination they were able to have two sample bricks shipped. The contractor was then able to have an artisan replicate the bricks using concrete. They matched perfectly…amazing.

The daylight basement provides a large art studio, guest suite and covered porch. Even from this lower level, the views are stunning!
